The snap of the spring echoed throughout the house. Nervous whiskers twitched as big eyes peered from the hole in the floorboard. A lone piece of cheddar sat untouched on the trap. The second mouse pilfered the cheese without the slightest hesitation.
I’m nibbling the metaphor.
Well done.
Thanks Lance! Hope you are doing well and becoming a comedic genius. 🙂
In my population biology class an eon ago, we used to call mice who learned the value of “live traps” and the bait…”Trap Happy”. We hat to mark them with a marker so we didn’t count them more than once. Those were the mice who would very easily wait for the sacrificial lamb to spring the death traps. 🙂
They are very smart little creatures!!
We had a similar take. 😀
We certainly did! 🙂
Smart little fella. Hope he isn’t mourning the martyr. Well done!
Lol…I think he’s too busy eating the cheese. And thank you!
Practical mouse, that. 🙂
Or in this case, the early bird gets…dead!
No respect for the deceased. Survival of the fittest perhaps?
