I love the strength of conviction conveyed in your first line. I almost wish this piece had been written upside down — starting with the observation about loss being a heavy burden, and ending with the strengthening resolve.
The metaphor of tears and candle wax leaves the reader with a strong image and tone. I was a little confused by the line “the weight of it [emotion] tugs on my feelings” because emotions and feelings are the same thing.
I just read it back to myself. I used emotion to embody all of the feelings we go through with a loss and the wax pulled on each of them individually, denial, grief, sadness…if that makes sense.
Loss is really the hardest of things to bear, is it not? I like the note of hope at the beginning. Some days are better than others in the grief process, and I feel like these lines reflect that.
Thanks for sharing this. The only thing I would say is that I didn’t feel the title needed to be so obvious. Your words are super powerful in this. Great job.
Indeed.
Love the image of emotions clinging and heavy.
Thank you very much.
Loss IS a heavy burden. ❤
It certainly is. Thank you for reading.

Thank you….and I love the upside down thought. It is a great idea.
Your title says this very well. I love the sensory imprint of loss that you express here.
Thank you very much.
Tears dripping like wax is a brilliant line. And loss is the biggest burden:(
Thank you. And is certainly is. 😦
It starts off with optimism but leaves us feeling despondent. 😦
Dealing with loss is like being on a roller coaster.
I like the personification of emotion in this poem.
Thank you very much.

Good point, thank you for that.

Loss truly is the greatest of burdens. I loved the image of a forgotten candle. Said so much with such a small space. Well done!
Thank you.
